Connected worker safety: LoRaWAN Smart Safety Helmet integrated with Alltrace

Connected worker safety becomes much more valuable when sensor data does not stop at the device. Minew's LSH01 LoRaWAN Smart Safety Helmet combines personal protection with positioning, safety-event detection and wireless reporting. Integrated with the Alltrace IoT platform, these signals can become actionable information for safety teams, operations managers and service providers.

A smart lorawan helmet built for connected safety

The Minew LSH01 uses LoRaWAN for long-range, low-power communication and combines GNSS positioning outdoors with Bluetooth or Wirepas-based positioning indoors. The helmet can report location and safety events while also providing local voice alerts to the wearer.

Its integrated safety functions include helmet-removal detection, prolonged-inactivity detection, fall detection, proximity-voltage warnings, high-temperature alerts and a dedicated SOS button. With IP65 protection and rechargeable batteries, the device is designed for demanding industrial environments such as construction, utilities, petrochemical facilities and mining.

From helmet event to Alltrace notification

In an Alltrace deployment, the LSH01 communicates through a LoRaWAN gateway. The gateway forwards LoRaWAN messages to the configured network environment, where decoded device data can be sent into Alltrace through the appropriate integration or webhook.

Alltrace can then associate each helmet with the correct worker, team, location, project or customer asset. Instead of viewing raw LoRaWAN messages, users can work with meaningful events such as SOS activated, fall detected, helmet removed, worker inactive, high temperature, proximity-voltage alarm or last known location.

What Alltrace adds

The Alltrace platform can centralize helmet data together with information from other IoT devices, sensors and operational systems. This creates one environment for monitoring, alerts, history and workflows.

Depending on the project configuration, Alltrace can be used to display current status, store event history, trigger notifications, create escalation workflows, apply geofencing rules, link events to assets or locations and expose selected information through APIs or integrations to other business systems.

Practical use cases

For construction companies, the combination can improve visibility of personnel across changing work areas and help safety coordinators react faster when an SOS, fall or inactivity event is reported.

For utilities and electrical maintenance teams, proximity-voltage alerts and location data can be combined with project, asset and workforce information in Alltrace.

For industrial and mining environments, one platform can combine worker-safety events with additional sensors such as environmental monitoring, equipment tracking or access-control data.

A scalable approach to connected PPE

The value of connected PPE increases when devices from different manufacturers can be managed in a common IoT architecture. Alltrace is designed as a flexible IoT platform, so the LSH01 can become one data source within a broader connected-safety solution rather than a standalone system.

This makes it possible to start with a specific safety use case and later expand with additional LoRaWAN sensors, Bluetooth devices, gateways, dashboards and integrations without creating a separate application for every device type.
